Entry Description

A documentary interviewing 5 people about how diabetes (type 1) has affected their lives. This gives insight to a commonly misinterpreted disease as it is largely known as a "fat people's" disease, however diabetes can really be caused by so much more than being overweight and type 1 isn't caused by that at all. This uncovers the truth behind diabetes, type 1 and type 2, and how to stay healthy living with it and also how to prevent it starting from early on in life.

Positives: Excellent photo usage and B-roll. The more outside footage you have, the more invested I am in the message. A bunch of talking heads can get boring. Way to break it upl Extremely informative. You covered what it is, who has it, how they deal with it, and what is being done to help fight it. Very impressive.

Improvements: I would experiment with adding little post zooms on the pictures. A little bit of movement while looking at photos can be more soothing than a static picture. For the voice overs, maybe ask a teacher or parent to do it. A voice over from someone with a soothing, concerned voice will speak more to the watcher than someone (probably you) who sounds like they just got out of bed and started recording tracks. ;)

Positives: I really appreciated this documentary for the strong message it was able to get across in such a short period of time. The interviews flowed nicely into the statistics and diagrams used to explain diabetes. I loved that it ended with ways you can contribute and help fight this disease. The pictures and b-roll of the walks was a nice touch and really added to the story.

Improvements: The first 3 interviews had a very unattractive background. One girl was in front of a wrinkled sheet and another guy appeared to be in a small storage closet with wires hanging down. It would have been more appealing to the eye to put them in front of some nice outdoor scenery or a nice office space. I would probably remove the interview of the two athletic girls because I didn't really understand what they were saying and I don't think they added anything to the documentary.

Positives: Lots of interesting facts and statistics. I know about diabetes because of family, but I didn't know how common it is becoming.

Improvements: It felt like there were two different videos on diabetes put together. Started as a story of different people with diabetes then turned into a promo video to fundraise. Due to this we never actually answered the difference between type 1 & type 2. Unless I missed that. Also could have explained daily routine, how diets have changed, new lifestyle. Feel like it could have had so much more information.
