Entry Description

This is an excerpt from the documentary "A Day With The Weirdos", featuring the Blackout portion.

Judge 1

Positives: The camera angles in the tunnel worked will. Editing the clips together also worked well.

Improvements: There was nothing compelling about the story or narrative. There was nothing that gave me any emotional connection to the story other than they are high school students who like to be really rowdy at basketball games. They could have quickly gotten some dialogue from the players or a couple other students as to the "why" the Wierdo's are important. Are they?

Judge 2

Positives: The musical element of "Thus Spake Zarathustra" worked. It showed a small group of people, then gradually built to climax. The crowd was oriented and the camera shots were clear with many interest points, not allowing too much time to pass before changing angles.

Improvements: The storyline was unclear to me. The end was abrupt and showed a score from a game. Maybe the creators of this project wanted to show a group of students who got together to exemplify a quality they all found in themselves and how they reacted in an audience to pep up their side, but that's not enough of a storyline for me. I think it would have been useful to use the clips before the game to have 10 second interviews with different people on the "weirdo" team to get their perspective and what they stand for.

Judge 3

Positives: Rich variety of supporting evidence for a spirit video. Creative and fun shots of the Men in Black.

Improvements: Audio and enhancements were used, but not for full effect.
