Judge 1

Positives: The editing was very good. The informational clips added to the news scenes worked well. The collaboration and involvement of 4 youth was impressive. The film was clearly a great collaborative effort.

Improvements: The home setting did not work so well. It was old fashioned so it conveyed a sense that the narrators were older than they are. It was a little like Masterpiece Theater. More contemporary setting would have been good. It would have been good to interview as least two more people.

Judge 2

Positives: The lighting was good. What worked well was the scene at McDonalds, the closeup to the menu, and the way that it cut to the dining table. It's a bit raw in its form because the camera had to focus, but it worked for me. The interview at the shoe store also worked well. It was more personable. The close-up with the store manager was a good touch.

Improvements: The introduction is in an open space, be careful because there's no walls for sound to bounce back. I think a good mic would be of use here to counteract this "big room" feel. This video had the feel of someone reading MacBeth. To be more effective lines need to feel natural and connect with the audience. Eyes should look at the camera.Imagine that you are speaking to a friend. The best scene was the young man who interviewed at the shoe store. This is what everyone should aspire to do.

Judge 3

Positives: Creative and compelling opener. Good support for a clearly defined message.

Improvements: Theatrics were appreciated, but distracted from the message.
