Entry Description

Highlights from LHS swim team's success.

Judge 1

Positives: Cool Pokeball...if you are the one who designed it. Great footage of them swimming. You got tons of cool angles.

Improvements: Are you trying to make us go deaf? The audio from the event is inaudible and way louder than the music. Music which has no relevance to anything. Maybe try and tell us a story or something. Maybe get interviews from swimmers. Talk about records. Anything. The pokeball means nothing to me as a viewer, and you do not explain it. Most confusing video ever.

Judge 2

Positives: I enjoyed the different shots of the swim team racing. It was good to switch up the angles where some are long shots of the pool and some are close ups of them diving into the pool. It keeps each shot interesting. It was inventive to play with different transitions and aspect ratios throughout the documentary.

Improvements: I don't think I would call this a documentary. It seemed like it was a memorial video that you play at the end of the year banquet to remember all the great team moments. There was no story and I didn't even know which of these races the team actually won. The audio from the actual swim meets was so loud and blown out that you couldn't understand anything they were saying, So I'd consider removing that completely. The audio definitely needs some adjusting.

Judge 3

Positives: Liked the slow motion to fast motion shot of the twins swimming together.

Improvements: Where is the story? There are no details for the viewer to follow just a video montage of swimmers. Video lacks narrative, plot, and details. Why is there a Pokemon ball? Get rid if the graphic! It is distracting and takes away from the footage. Footage is too small because this ball is the center focus of the video. Need to see full screen footage to draw the viewer in. Would suggest to have interviewed the swim team and have information on them like how they perform as a team, how the season went, what meets are like...something of tangible substance. I don't understand.
