  • 4/24 12:56 pm - The story and the message for this commercial is spot on. The camera work and editing need some addressing. The camera shots are good but expected. The shutter speed should be adjusted to get rid of the motion blur, especially since the shoes are the focus. Bringing in additional lighting would help as well. Since this is a shoe ad, maybe a close-up even of the feet going by right before the runner rounds the corner. Editing-wise, it is assembled well but overall shot lengths could be tighter. I do appreciate your music choice for this piece as well.
  • 3/3 1:57 pm - The tempo you've established is engaging, and the selection of music significantly contributes to this effect. The crescendo of the music towards the conclusion of the commercial effectively amplifies the tone, creating a compelling narrative drive that captures the audience's attention. The clarity of the story you've presented is appreciated; however, there appears to be room for further development in terms of narrative depth. Enhancing the storyline to provide more context or emotional engagement could elevate the overall impact of your commercial. Story development is a crucial aspect that can transform a good commercial into a great one, by forging a stronger connection with the viewer. Your technical approach to the commercial's production also warrants attention. The principle of maintaining your shutter speed at twice the frame rate during slow-motion sequences is essential for achieving the desired clarity and fluidity. Adhering to this guideline will ensure that your slow-motion shots are crisp and contribute effectively to the visual storytelling. Additionally, the use of lighting in your commercial is an area where there is potential for growth. While single light sources can sometimes serve a specific aesthetic or mood, relying solely on this can result in a final product that might appear less professional. Experimenting with multiple light sources can add depth, contrast, and texture to your visuals, enhancing the professional quality of your work. Lighting is a powerful tool in visual storytelling, capable of influencing the mood, tone, and perception of scenes. By diversifying your lighting techniques, you can achieve more dynamic and visually appealing results. As you continue to refine your skills and explore the vast possibilities within commercial production, I encourage you to experiment with these aspects. Your ability to pace a narrative effectively and choose complementary music is a strong foundation. Building upon this with enhanced story development and a more sophisticated approach to technical elements like slow-motion and lighting will undoubtedly lead to even more impressive outcomes in your future projects.
