- 4/23 10:18 pm - I like the cause and effect concept of this PSA, especially how you convey it using the black light. Clean shots, clean edits. Nice zoom on the door handle. Your font is too basic, if that's the last thing that the audience sees, then make it powerful.
- 2/26 2:22 pm - Okay, this was a great PSA. Simple but very effective. Your shots were on point, your exposure and lighting were appropriate, and your sound mix was good. I love that you took the time to do the blacklight on all the places she touched, to show a visual of all those things. I also love that you had a ton of examples of everything she touched; that's really important to conveying how our hands are in contact with people, places, and things all the time. The only thing I don't think you needed was the disease control title at the end. You could have just had washed hands are caring hands by itself. Or just a "For more information about the importance of washing hands, visit www.cdc.gov
Judge 1
Positives: It's a great, clever idea to use the luminol remnants after touching items with your hands. Great use of zooming in to transition to next shot. The changes in angle and camera movement, and composition made it enjoyable to watch most of the time.. It's nice that the music stopped and drew your attention to the words on the screen.
Improvements: Some of the shots seemed awkward, and the camera placement didn't seem well thought through. The shots could have been more creative. Due to this, the edits didn't flow well throughout the video.
Judge 2
Positives: 1 - great use of showing the specific germ traces where her hands were/went 2 - nicely edited from inside venue to outside venue
Improvements: 1 - this could have also used bolder font on the end panel 2 - can't readily tell who the victim is by the story - is it the person at the end or the person we see for most of the spot
Judge 3
Positives: The effect of showing the surfaces that were in contact with her hands was very effective. There was a wide variety of shots and subject matter that conveyed the message well. The music worked well with the piece.
Improvements: The use of more sound effects could have elevated the piece. Although the call to action was clear, the final statement or direction could have been a little stronger.
