  • 4/24 8:19 am - This was a nice quick, cohesive demo on doing gel nails. You’ve included a lot of shots and angles and had some really nice movement. The swooping push-ins work beautifully. You explain everything in a way that makes sense and show each step. The music and narration were mixed well and the music was not overpowering. One suggestion I’d have is to let everyone know at the start what they will need to do gel nails. .
  • 4/1 12:56 pm - The steps in this video seem very easy to follow. With a video that has simple steps, get creative in how you show viewers those steps. For example, the second time you show the hands going under the UV light, you got creative in where you placed your camera - do that for each time the hands go under the UV light - it helps to change things up a bit and makes the video more visually interesting for the viewer. At the end, show us not only the shot you had of the hands, but also a tighter shot of the nails so we can see them close up.

Positives: This demonstration has a nice variety of shots that were edited together in a way where the video is well-paced. The voiceover is clear and understandable. The music and voiceover work well together and help support the video's mood.

Improvements: The handheld and stabilized footage sticks out from the locked down shots in a way that briefly takes the viewer out of the video. This is mostly at 0:25- 00:31, where the warp stabilizer is a little distracting. For the overhead shots, keeping the camera locked down on a tripod would have helped avoid the subtle shake even after the footage had been stabilized. The music could have been brought up in the moments without any voiceover or just a hair louder overall.

Positives: I like the movement in the shots. It helps to keep the video engaging. I like that I can follow along and replicate this video. The lighting is well done and makes it easy to see each step.

Improvements: The audio is not balanced and that can be a distraction. It is coming from the right side, not both. Watch the jump cuts in the video. This can be avoided by changing the perspective.
