Too Much Within Music Video

Entry Description

To me this film is about memories. In the film, there's boy, very similar to many of us. The boy is blinded by love and art--they make each other impossible, and they are the only things he can see clearly anymore. Internally he's the same, but externally the world spins around him. He remembers fulfillment, but his memories have become so tangled up with his obsessions that he can hardly tell them apart anymore. If there is no connection and no creation, he will vanish into a sea of empty nostalgia--or else he will shed the skin of self and leave behind all he's ever known.

Judge 1

Positives: I really liked this video. The use of 8mm film and the use of filters to make new video fit the texture of the piece were well executed. The music choice kept me engaged. Great job!

Improvements: Other than a couple of rough edits the video was well done.

Judge 2

Positives: Nice close ups. Good "textures". You have some very nice dissolves/effects. I also enjoyed your interior shots and how you creatively lit them.

Improvements: There is some great camera work here. I only scored it lower because I thought some of your exposures were off. I also felt that the hand held was sometimes just a bit too much. Be mindful that your viewer is not distracted by excessive camera movement.

Judge 3

Positives: Great use of film / film effect to create emotion / drama / memories. Editing and cutting w/ the segment was also very effective and creative.

Improvements: Some of the narrative was a bit confusing / abstract. Not sure as to the "music" portion - was it a music video as such or a film/ story w/ a soundtrack.
