Certified prosthetist Kevin Carroll talks with Peter Chung about inventing the first-ever prosthetic for a dolphin. His invention was so influential that it inspired the Disney movie "Dolphin Tale."
Positives: They are the ones who made a dolphin prosthetic!? Thats unbelievable! What a unique and interesting topic. Awesome b-roll and photos. I really felt involved in the process of helping this dolphin!
Improvements: Be aware of your head room and framing when setting up your shots. But I bet you knew that already. Maybe add music underneath your project. It would make your piece a little easier to watch straight through without sounding like a flood of non stop dialogue.
Positives: This is a very well-constructed interview on a wonderful and interesting topic. The interview's audio sounded crystal clear. The b-roll footage was perfectly used over the interview. It was very special to see Winter swimming with her prosthetic tail as Kevin was describing it to us. It was also great to see Kevin at work and all the pictures of him and his team who helped make this possible.
Improvements: I would have readjusted the frame of the interview 2 shot because there was a foot sticking out of Peter's head the whole time. I think the b-roll and pictures should have started sooner into the interview. Get us in and excited right away!
Positives: Great interview. The conversation flowed effortlessly. B-roll was a good tool to add over the conversation, well matched.
Improvements: I would have chosen a different framing on the 2 shot of Kevin and Peter. Get closer. Have eye contact. The shot works as a master for the opening but once they start to talk, Kevin turns to Peter and we lose his eye contact altogether. Make sure to keep them looking forward or sideways, never back. The 1 shot was well framed.
