Movie Trailer

Entry Description

This is a movie trailer for Ayn Rand's novel, Anthem. Anthem is a dystopian fiction novella published in 1938 in England. It takes place at some unspecified future date when mankind has entered another dark age characterized by irrationality, collectivism, and socialistic thinking and economics. Technological advancement is now carefully planned (when it is allowed to occur at all) and the concept of individuality has been eliminated (for example, the use of the word "I" or "Ego" is punishable by death).

Judge 1

Positives: I really like the concept and I think you did a nice job of capturing the overall theme of the story. The costumes, the music and setting were all excellent choices for this genre. The edits seem to flow nicely with the music.

Improvements: Be careful with your perspective and the angles you are shooting at. There were a couple shots that switched direction which can be confusing to the viewer. Maybe too much handheld camera. With the right angle and composition, some shots could have been more impactful or dramatic. Make sure to watch your audio levels, the narrator was difficult to hear while the music was overpowering at times.

Judge 2

Positives: Great production value and attention to detail. Very engaging use of edits

Improvements: I would explore more advanced sound mixing that matches the quality of the video, watch for typo in credit

Judge 3

Positives: The music choice worked well to set the tone. And the scene with the lightbulb was a nice dramatic shot.

Improvements: The dialogue was barely audible so some sound editing improvements could be improved. Some scenes like of him running and the apple falling on the ground could have been edited down.
