The life of a painter
Positives: Awesome time lapse! Its cool to see a painting go from nothing to a beautiful work of art. That was an inspiring glimpse into the mind of an artist. I really got to experience his "process" and paints John Condon in a great light. ;)
Improvements: You should have tried cutting the interview in with the time lapse footage way sooner so we knew who was talking and painting. I didnt have any connection with the character, because there wasnt one for 2 minutes. I would have liked to see more of a variety of visuals, such as other paintings or the space he creates in, to accompany the interview dialogue.
Positives: I appreciated the simplicity of this documentary. It was a fun idea to see him painting from beginning to end. The music worked well underneath the interview and kept it flowing. The lighting was also very nice during the painting scene and really brought out the colors of the piece.
Improvements: I think the documentary would be stronger if more of the interview was scene throughout. I wanted to see his face sooner and know who was talking and that doesn't come until the end of the documentary. The audio was very hard to hear in certain parts. I'd recommend going back and listening to see where it dips down.
Positives: The high speed technique was a very unique stylistic choice. I loved how you showed entire process of this painting being created
Improvements: Definitely needed more shots. Though the high speed was a great technique to use, you needed more shots. It's hard to pay attention to the same shot for 3 minutes with the same beat over and over again. You needed to shoot and intercut more footage in the video to keep a pace and flow and to keep the audience's attention.
