A behind the scenes look at what is like to be a morning news anchor at ABC 7 in Chicago.
Positives: great b-roll edit pacing is great
Improvements: office interviews white balance a little off interview audio sounds like a shotgun mic (should be lavaliere)
Positives: Very uplifting message, and great sound byte choices. Excellent, clear sound! Very nicely done.
Improvements: This piece seemed to be missing a music, though it wasn't noticeable until the bit of jingle at the end. It's important to keep things consistent. Either go completely without score, or add a piece of music that fits the mood you're going for. Don't be afraid to incorporate camera movement into your b-roll. It will make for more interesting imagery and add energy to the viewing experience. Also, try not to go immediately back to the same shot of b-roll, try to get a good variety of angles and mix it up.
Positives: The shots were very well composed. Likewise, the audio was well captured and well mixed.
Improvements: Use a wider of variety of camera angles and/or techniques. Handheld/moving shots can add emotion and help keep the piece visually interesting. Also, may give you more to cut with in the editing room. The lack of any music made this piece seem much more sober then I think it was intended. Adding an appropriate sound-bed/score can really give the piece some punch.
