Entry Description

For our production 2 class we created a music video for the song "Better Days" by the Goo Goo Dolls. In this music video, we wanted to show the lives of 2 main characters, the boy and the girl, and show how they are trying to make their lives better. The boy was just broken up with by his girlfriend and is looking to move on. The girl is struggling with the situation of her parents constantly fighting. In the end, these two characters meet each other and end up happier with the lives they are starting.

Judge 1

Positives: Lip sync was well done and shots of piano were creative. Use of rack focus and camera angles added to the felling of the video.

Improvements: Camera work was a little rough in spots and certain shots seemed to be help too long.

Judge 2

Positives: Great song! Nice job showing character development. Message is clear and understood.

Improvements: Be mindful of camera composition. Handheld camera works, but not when I am distracted by it. Watch your color. Many times your exposures and colors are off.

Judge 3

Positives: The cutting of the piano player back and forth w/ the "action" scenes worked well. Shot selection / execution and audio sync were very good.

Improvements: Tech - some shots were over exposed and some under. Not extreme but could be improved. Story, while told effectively was kind of simplistic - knowing the characters would meet, was looking for a stronger climax to scene.
