News from the Nest is our monthly news show that features news, opinion, entertainment and more. The show is produced by the 10th period journalism class.

Judge 1

Positives: good intro nice variety of packages

Improvements: anchor audio sounds muted or not properly mic'd a few white balance problems on packages

Judge 2

Positives: This was hosted by two very talented anchors who have no problem with the script and content they're communicating. Very well edited intro video package!

Improvements: Much of the overall audio quality could have been improved. Some examples include fading the audio from segments out as the anchors come back in. This would require that all packages have 10 seconds of music at the end, so that fading out smoothly is possible. Definitely worth it, though! Some of the lighting in the video packages could have been improved. Lighting your subjects helps separate them from the background, and makes for a more interesting shot.

Judge 3

Positives: Interesting show opening video. Many of the packages shots were well composed and showed comprehensive camera technique.

Improvements: Lots of dropped frames in the editing of the first package. The title cards before each Package were an interesting choice. However, I think it needs to be refined much more so it can be more seamlessly integrated with the show. Especially since it is not usually scene on news programs except for special features or reports. Likewise, the name graphics should have proper lower-thirds to distinguish them from the rest of the image.
