A documentary on former major leaguer Lou Boudreau who won a world series with the Cleveland Indians and spent 30 years in the broadcasting booth with the Chicago Cubs. This is a 5 minute excerpt of an 8 minute documentary.
Positives: Im so glad you added smooth zooms to your pictures. That kind of technique will really keep a viewer engaged instead of still pictures. YOU INTERVIEWED ERNIE BANKS!!!???? Unreal. He is a true legend. Excellent topic and great interview subjects. The shot composition is superb.
Improvements: I dont understand the voice over! In the beginning it is really poppy and low, then over the first bit of black and white, the VO is flawless. Then towards the end, it sounds good, but gets muffled and poppy. Strive for that middle quality every time. Make sure you re-watch your video over and over again. Theres a black drop out at 2:54.
Positives: I was very impressed by all the old footage that was gathered for this documentary. The photos and the game footage were a very strong addition to this documentary and kept your attention. The music underneath the whole documentary was perfectly placed and handled with care. It didn't overpower the voiceover and made you feel the importance of Lou's life. Some very smart choices.
Improvements: The voiceover sounded like it was only coming out of one channel. In the beginning the voiceover was too low and then it got better throughout the documentary but it sounded like it was coming out of a filter that was softer than it should have been. I had to keep adjusting my speakers because the interviews had good audio but the voiceover did not. I think that Jim was underused and should have had more of his interview shown. It would have been nice to feel that father-son dynamic and how he looked up to him.
Positives: Great interviews! Well made and very informative doc. Footage and interviews were well put together. Great pacing and flow in the edit.
Improvements: Bring the sound levels up on the recap voiceover. It is very difficult to hear. Also mix/blend the audio levels so it flows. When it cuts to a different audio fade it out so it doesn't pop or cut out abruptly.
