I wanted to capture the process of how my grandma makes enchiladas. She is the matriarch of our family, and I wanted to preserve the knowledge that she has for the future.
Positives: Abuela did a great job narrating her cooking. I'm guessing she didn't want to be on camera. Lighting was great. Mmmm!
Improvements: There were an awful lot of really tight shots. In lieu of getting more of abuela in action, some wider shouts mixed in would have added to the visual interest and been less claustrophobic.
Positives: The music complements the tone and the dialogue and music levels are well balanced in relation to each other. The rhythm of the music and the rhythm of the edit complement each other. The intro with the timing of the music and title work well to grab the viewers attention. The subtitles are well done. They are timed well and are up for long enough for the viewer to read them.
Improvements: Really small but at 1:39 it sounds like there's another person talking in the background. If it's in the natural sound of the b-roll footage, it'd be easy to remove and mute that clip. Really small, but the movement in the shot at 2:46 feels like warp stabilizer and less intentional. Putting the camera on a tripod or having the movement be more intentional would help it mesh better with the other shots.
Positives: Food TV Network compatible! Excellent camera, sound (especially soft background music) lighting. I was wowed! And I don't speak, read or understand Spanish. Subtitles worked 100%.
Improvements: Don't change anything. The video was precise. Excellent video.
