In this short video, Nathan Lee shares his skills and demonstrates "Ventriloquism 101."
Positives: The introduction sets a comedic tone that matches the subject matter, allows the viewer to connect with the instructor, and engages them in the rest of the video. Each shot is well composed. Choosing to shoot in a theater compliments the subject matter. The variety of shots keeps the viewer engaged.
Improvements: The white balance varies between some of the shots, even though the room is the same throughout. While explaining each step does not need the puppet, the puppet could be included a little bit more besides the introduction and ending to further emphasize the subject.
Positives: -Shows good personality when introducing himself and his "partner". -Nice editing to show the mouth not moving.
Improvements: -Lighting is casting a few shadows. -Video is simple, and background is plain.
Positives: Always wondered how it's done, nice explanation. Good text overlays. Hand gestures emphasized mouth mechanics perfectly. Way to vary the shots during the alphabet. Great OTS shot with the mirror and the alphabet.
Improvements: When you're talking about mouth placement, you walk out of one shot to the left and into the next shot from the right. Walking out to the right would have been more visually consistent. Last shot's lighting was not consistent with the video's light. A reflector or color grading would have helped.
