Andy is an art enthusiast who has found an art piece he really connects with. Jenna is not so sure Andy knows what he is talking about. It doesn't take too long to find out who had the correct interpretation.
Positives: Great job acting. Loved the hipster character with the hat, and rings and scarf and attitude. Good use of the tight 2 shots then going to single close-ups as the argued.
Improvements: Some visual interplay with the artwork would have underscored their discussion. At least one tighter of the black board and then maybe some back and forth between the hipster and the real sunset painting.
Positives: Great idea for a story! Well acted and directed with a legitimate twist near the end. Andy's dialogue and wardrobe was on point for a caricature of a pretentious art school kid. The painting had the exact look that it needed to have to drive the story home.
Improvements: Could have been about thirty seconds shorter. Some shots went on a bit long for the amount of plot that was present in the story. The ending also could have been a bit subtler. Her reaction to the painting arriving might have been funnier if she only gave a wry smile instead of laughing out loud. Felt a bit like overacting. But all in all there isn't much to criticize. I enjoyed it very much!
Positives: I thoroughly enjoyed this film! Having had some exposure to the modern art world, I loved the potency of this narrative. This film doesn't waste any time. It has a tight, distinct story and clear-cut characters, and there is a notable change between them occurring by the end of the story. That seems simple, but it can be difficult to pull off. Short, sweet, has a point to make and very high quality. This deserves praise! Excellent work.
Improvements: Personally I'd have liked to have seen a little more gloating by the protagonist at the end, but she chose the high road and I have to respect that! Genuinely great film. Keep making them!
