  • 4/30 11:48 am - Great opening with use of natural audio. Solid interview-based promo that gives the audience a good sense of what the show is about. I like the nat audio throughout. The piece definitely does a good job of getting out all the details and has a clear CTA. Two things...mic may me a little overmodulated at times and some of the broll is "dark." The broll has a great action but it's just dark. Nice work!
  • 3/4 9:52 am - Love how the promo starts with that nat pop... we get some piano right away and hear the cast. Promo is interview driven with the person that knows the show the best, the director. You've got nice B-roll of the cast rehearsals and a nice sound bites from two of the leads (all the while with the show music underneath). I thought that the director's interview audio might have been a little overmodulated in a couple points (peaking). Cast member sound is great. Only other little criticism is getting used to using light for any and all interviews that you do. Light will always make subjects "pop" and look more alive on camera. All in all, I thought this was a nice piece. We get all the pertinent information, perhaps a title card/graphic of the show dates and location at the end would have been a nice add too but anyone that watches the promo and listens will know where to go. Good job!
Judge 1

Positives: good videos of all aspects of pre-production great variety of camera angles and moving shots to draw the viewer in

Improvements: Could have started with more action to get us into it more scenes and discussions from more variety of people associated with the production

Judge 2

Positives: The video and audio quality are both solid throughout. Interviews are clear, the rehearsal footage is well-shot, and you can tell real effort went into putting this together. The structure of mixing interviews with footage is the right approach for a theatre promo.

Improvements: Opening with the director sets a behind-the-scenes tone, but for a promo you want the audience hooked on the show first. Starting with stage scenes or a high-energy rehearsal moment would pull viewers in faster. It's also worth thinking about whether normal rehearsal footage (without full staging, costumes, or set) really sells the production the way dress rehearsal footage would. The two leads get a lot of screen time, which makes sense, but bringing in a few other cast members, someone from the pit band, or a tech crew perspective would give the promo a fuller picture of what goes into the show.

Judge 3

Positives: Excellent composition. Complete comprehensive story from start to finish. The interviews mixed in with the shows' rehearsals amazing. You actually gave information about the show dates and times! Awesome

Improvements: This was as professional as you can get as far as this judge is concerned. Keep up the excellent work.
