  • 2/28 12:05 pm - -I wanted a stronger script with more reporter tracks -Beautiful shooting and framing! -music didn't fit - Nice delivery from the reporter- I wanted to hear more from him
  • 2/26 12:46 pm - Why have music underneath this package? The interview was very well-framed and interesting. The b-roll is strong here at the start. The b-roll matches the video. The second soundbite is long. We go a long time between reporter narrations. I wish this would have been woven with more reporter narration, as the interviews are strong. No teacher interview?
  • 2/21 2:31 pm - - Really good camerawork - Good framing and nice shots - Good storytelling and writing matched the video - Needed more NATS - Track was strong but it wasn’t enough - SOTS felt a bit long and repetitive (could have been cut shorter) - Informative package - Made the topic interesting with good execution

Positives: - Your interview shots looked really good. Nice job creating depth of field to have your interviewees in focus and the background out of focus - The rack focus shot while in the classroom was really well done

Improvements: - This story lacked visual sequences that would have helped it feel more cohesive. This would have included an establishing shot of the whole classroom, tight shots of people studying/learning, medium shots mixed in. - You need to use natural sound. The music doesn't add anything to this story. Next time, mic up the teacher or students that ask questions to break up reporter track and soundbites. This will make your story flow much better.

Positives: Good job letting the sound tell the story I like how you had a variety of broll and were able to show what the students were talking about Good job covering longer sots with broll

Improvements: The interviews looked a little soft. It's okay to tighten up the shot to make sure they're in focus. Only thing you could try to add would be a little nats from in class or outside. I saw students laughing in class, so that could have worked well when the student said it was enjoyable.

Judge 3

Positives: -Great shots. Each interview subject was framed well during interviews -It was good to see the reporter's narration match the video (example: measuring trees)

Improvements: -I would love to see more video sequencing of each scene... a series of shots including a wide establishing shot, medium shot, close up etc. -I would have liked to hear natural sound.. especially in between transitions. Example: around 1:15 you see students laughing and engaging in class. You can use that natural sound to tell the story.
