An excerpt from the 2024 Neuqua Valley Variety Show. It is a six camera shoot of live performances. Directed-Drew Aurilio Cameras-Luke Townsend, Jillian Mannisto, Christopher Devor
Positives: -I like the creative amount of shots -Great job doing what you can during a dark performance where it can be difficult to see the performer
Improvements: -his head is cut off in the first shot. I think an establishing shot of the stage to give the viewer of an idea of what we're seeing is effective. -try to avoid fast zooms, it's jarring to the viewer.
Positives: Lighting was well done and worked perfectly with performance. Directing with shot sequence was done like a pro rock concert. Congrats. Good camera work.
Improvements: Needed a few more close up shots with only one talent. Although overall lighting/camera were good, there were a few places were it was totally dark and hard to see.
Positives: - This was really well done! Loved the pace of the director's cuts, loved the camera work being sharp and in focus, loved the variety of framing that we saw from the cameras. Really great job to capture the excitement of the performance!
Improvements: - This was really good so I only have very small, nit-picky suggestions. A performance like this could benefit from a well-timed crowd shot or two, but that assumes that a) there were people going nuts in the crowd and b) the lighting situation allowed you to capture them without it looking like a black hole. It's quite possible that either, or both, of those things were not in your favor in which case great decision to NOT force it in! - At the very end would've liked another close up shot of the guitar when he was going nuts on it.
