My mother used to always make deviled eggs for the holidays! Learn how to make these eggs extra special by dying them with your favorite food coloring!
Positives: Nice intro with the family tradition and how it's changed over the years. Logical progression with the stop action inventory of ingredients and then the quickly done putting it all together. I liked the blackouts transitioning from the process to the next step. I may have to try that recipe.
Improvements: A little bump at the beginning jarred the ingredient line up. The "longer they sit..." line got chopped.
Positives: The personal tie in in the intro makes it easy for the viewer to connect and engage with the demonstration. Good job with pacing - the use of speed ramps on other editing techniques focus on the important parts of each step and speeding through some of the mixing helps keep the pacing from dragging.
Improvements: Nice job keeping things bright and well lit, though at times it can be harsh or reflect on the counter (1:05). To keep from distracting the viewer, try using a softer light (even if it means getting creative with your diffusion) or adjusting placement to change the reflection. Be careful not to cut too close to the start of the word , like "paprika" at 0:22. It can be jarring when it sticks out from the established flow.
Positives: It was a great story. But deviled eggs are a staple in any American home get together. Good camera shots to emphasize the directions.
Improvements: You don't need to express that bowls and kitchen utensils are required. Instead of running through the ingredients so fast, it would have been more clear to list them on the screen.
