  • 4/21 7:14 pm - KEEPERS: As someone who works in the non profit space, it's always great to see organizations like this promoted and elevated as it helps their cause and society as a whole. From a production standpoint, the brol l shots you had in the piece were well filmed and aligned with your story. The audio/lighting from the 4-person interview was also done well. IMPROVEMENTS: From a story standpoint, I wanted to see much more broll surrounding Kristen and her life, if this is truly a documentary about her. It would have been much more compelling to interview her and get her to discuss in depth her personal journey through GI cancer to learning about the foundation, to heading it. The current structure makes it seem like it's more about the foundation itself and that Kristen is just a part of its story rather than the focal point. In terms of Kristen's interview set up, try to find a location with a better background that emphasizes the work of the foundation or just emphasizes what SHE is about. The white neutral walls don't provide depth or anything interesting cinematically. The audio for Kristen's interview is not nearly as crisp as the interview audio from the group of 4. Additional broll was needed in order to tell this story more visually. Overall, this was a good story worth telling. Keep learning and searching for more stories like this!
  • 2/25 1:40 pm - STORY: This doesn’t really seem like a documentary about Kristen Young. It seems like a promotional video for the Eisenberg Foundation that you are trying to pass off as a documentary. If this is a documentary about Young, then why is it that for almost HALF of the video, we just have the voices of 4 girls narrating this video, instead of Kristen Young herself? Are there other people associated with the Foundation, like other adults, who might also speak on behalf of Kristen Young? I think that multiple interviews with people about Young would have been more effective than seeing the 4-shot of the girls narrating the first half of the video. PRODUCTION: The audio from the interview with Kristen Young was very noisy; it sounded like you used the built-in microphone on the camera instead of a proper shotgun mic or lavalier mic. Even if you only had a built-in microphone, you could have used a noise reduction filter in post.
