4/29 6:09 pm - Story (Needs Significant Development)
The biggest area for improvement is story clarity. By the end of the commercial, the audience should understand what the product is, why it matters, and why they might want it. In this case, the product is unfamiliar, so the commercial needs to do more work explaining it. The concept needs more development, more creativity, and a clearer message.
Camera (Needs Improvement)
Some shot ideas show potential, especially the fridge shot. However, when the actor’s hand hits the camera, it breaks the illusion of the commercial and pulls the viewer out of the story. That type of mistake should be reshot. The framing also gives the impression that the project may have been filmed solo, which makes the production feel less polished.
Production Planning (Needs Improvement)
This commercial feels rushed and would have benefited from more time in pre-production and production. For future projects, try to work with at least one other person when filming. If you must shoot alone, create a concept that allows you to stay behind the camera. It is very difficult to act and operate the camera at the same time while maintaining professional quality.
Sound/Editing (Needs Growth)
The commercial would benefit from more intentional pacing, clearer structure, and stronger audio or sound design to help explain and sell the product. The edit should guide the audience toward understanding the product, not leave them guessing.
Overall Feedback
There are a few promising visual ideas here, but the commercial needs much stronger planning and clearer storytelling. Since this product may be unfamiliar to many viewers, your job is to help the audience understand what it is and why they should care. Moving forward, focus on developing a stronger concept, getting help during production, and reshooting moments that break the professionalism of the piece.
4/21 7:56 am - You had some decent shots, but it was tough to understand what the commercial was about until halfway through. Your final shot was excellent. I feel if you started with that, it could draw the viewer into the commercial immediately. Keep working hard!
3/9 12:16 pm - I like the concept you had going with the POV shot at the end. Some parts of your commercial could be a tad more engaging. For instance, you can hide the sharp audio changes in the cuts you make. Really emphasize and feature the product a bit more in order to really sell it. Keep working at finding ways to be more engaging.
