  • 4/23 10:10 pm - Nice use of intentional jump cuts. Good job using your camera to tell the story of the main character. Clean edits. The quote is a lot on the screen at one time, especially since it is your entire message. Need a clearer call to action
  • 2/26 1:01 pm - STORY: the depiction of someone struggling with mental health was mild. I understand that mental health manifests differently in everyone, and some people hide it better than others, but I feel like a montage of more than just morning and breakfast would have shown us more of this person's struggle. Maybe some scenes at school showing self-isolation, a scene after school walking alone, a scene at night sitting on a couch, etc. PRODUCTION: camera and lighting were great. Your framing of the shots, your exposure, and the pace of your edit worked well. The sound mix was a little hot; watch your music bed audio levels.
Judge 1

Positives: Not showing the mother was very effective in stating your message. The music worked well to indicate her sadness.

Improvements: The graphics weren't title-safe. The images and locations didn't tell me that the girl had mental health troubles: possible color grading or different angles for the camera.

Judge 2

Positives: 1 - music was mood appropriate 2 - good editing conveying movement from one room to another

Improvements: 1 - girl looked like she was bored more than an issue of mental health (girl could have stared at cereal and not eaten it) 2- end panel looked like an afterthought

Judge 3

Positives: The lighting was even throughout the piece. The call to action is direct and a resource is provided. The music aligned with the tone of the piece and the topic.

Improvements: There needed to be a wider variety of camera shots including movement and different angles. The piece could have benefitted from more creativity and a quicker pace of the story to hold the viewers attention and make the message more clear earlier on.
