- 3/5 8:18 am - I really enjoyed this promo video. From a drive through your town, to seeing the team captains walk out onto the field, the footage of plays from previous games, the sounds from games including the cheering from the stands, and the voice-over, It was clear, it was well thought out and it was well done. I also liked how you have a graphic at the end showing us specifically where you are located in the staqte of Ilinois. Very cool too that you have it narrated by Ohio quarterback and your own alumni, Matt Vezza. Great job.
- 3/4 10:34 am - Nice video! Well edited and great camera work and/or finding shots you needed from other sources. The voiceover was well done and a good script. Adding in the play-by-play was a nice touch too! Make this even stronger by pushing bodies into the game with information about dates/times or pushing them to your pages/socials too.
Judge 1
Positives: Love the use of a narrator and the town/highway shots. This piece had a lot of elements other entries were missing - scores and locations, font treatment, announcer calls - seemed more completely thought out and conceived than others.
Improvements: End panel seems rather plain compared to the rest of the piece. Need more faces - more emotion - this is the PLAYOFFS!!
Judge 2
Positives: Strong story. Bringing in narration was effective and the graphics identifying the speaker worked well. Sound mix of narration, ambient audio, and announcers was excellent.
Improvements: Some color grading felt inconsistent, with certain shots looking flat and others overly bright. The last section of the video could be tightened to improve pacing.
Judge 3
Positives: - Liked the usage of historic game footage to call back on great moments in school history. - Great job with the writing of the script, it really set the tone and established the message for this piece.
Improvements: - Working with narration can be tough - you have to strike the right balance in your audio mix to make it easily understandable over the music and other elements. For the most part you did a good job, but there were a few highlights where we heard an announcer call while the narration was still going - be really careful here. Competing voices at the same time make it hard for the viewer to take in and understand any of it.
