- 4/17 4:21 pm - Good job showcasing strong cinematography skills in this reel. You have a variety of shots and different situations, which is great. You display a strong grasp of the fundamentals, however only in certain conditions do you really shine past those fundamentals, and that is in the highly controlled artificial light stage scenes of some kind of performance - they are incredibly beautiful. Good job overall
- 4/15 1:44 pm - PROS - Composition & Framing: The reel exhibits a strong understanding of composition, utilizing the rule of thirds and leading lines effectively. Shots are thoughtfully framed, guiding the viewer's eye and enhancing the visual narrative. Camera Movement: Dynamic camera movements, including smooth tracking and panning shots, add depth and engagement. The movements are purposeful, contributing to the storytelling rather than distracting from it. IMPROVEMENTS - Exposure Control: Several shots appear overexposed, leading to washed-out highlights and reduced detail in bright areas. Implementing exposure adjustments during shooting or in post-production will refine image quality. Focus Consistency: A few clips display soft focus, particularly on key subjects. Ensuring critical focus during shooting, possibly through manual focus checks or focus peaking tools, would improve clarity. Lighting Variability: While some scenes are well-lit, others suffer from flat or inconsistent lighting. A more deliberate approach to lighting design, considering the mood and tone of each scene, would enhance the overall visual impact. OVERALL - This cinematography reel demonstrates a solid foundation in visual storytelling, with commendable composition and camera movement. Addressing the noted issues with exposure, focus, and lighting will elevate the work to a higher standard. Continued practice and attention to these technical aspects will further refine your cinematography skills.

- 4/9 8:17 am - Great compilation of shots, edited together nicely with both natural sound/sfx and music to showcase your work that spanned different genres, environments and action. Great framing and capture of spontaneous movement through sports, but showcasing that you know where to be to capture those key moments.
Judge 1
Positives: Awesome golf, women with microphone, and fire scenes!
Improvements: Shorter length contributed to limiting content. Variety and range of shooting techniques need expansion.
Judge 2
Positives: Hey Luke! You've got a good eye.
You overcame some tough lighting challenges---esp stadium lights.
lots of good content. You filled up with PKG with a diverse amount of shots in various environments.
Improvements: Don't be afraid of getting the face shots like the coach and musician.
I'd say some more emphasis on natural sound.
Appreciate your work, Luke.

Positives: Really nice work! Live events can be tough to capture, but you handled the lighting and composition exceptionally well. The shots came through clean and dynamic, showing great attention to detail despite the challenges. Keep it up!
Improvements: Some of the shots felt a little shaky. I’d recommend looking into budget-friendly camera rigs for smoother handheld shots, or if you're editing in Premiere, playing around with the Warp Stabilizer tool to help steady those moments.
