  • 4/24 8:18 am - You have a soothing voice and explain your process well. I was waiting for you to check and mention the temp AND to talk about resting the steak, and you did!! Clap Clap Clap. You have a nice variety of shots and angles for the most part, especially as you get about half way into the video. The shot at 1:39 was pleasing. There were a couple of jumpcuts (one happens around :45). So, try and find clever ways to use the jumpcut or use cutaways to make smoother transitions. A couple of your shots were also just slightly out of focus. A couple of other thoughts are to start off explaining what steak frites are (this viewer didn’t know…) and to list (in text) your ingredients as well as appliances that you’re going to use ahead of time. That way if anyone is going to cook with you or save this as a recipe to use later they’ll know all the ingredients they need AND that you used an air fryer, etc. and can plan accordingly. I do really want to go and make some steak, now.
  • 4/1 1:02 pm - Audio levels were a bit low - I had to crank up the volume on my computer to hear you. That’s a lot of ingredients to remember - how can you display that on the screen while you’re showing them so that your audience can see the amounts? In this case, I think the overhead shot showing the bowls of ingredients is the way to go - in the other shot, it’s hard to see all of them. When cutting the fries, the shot changes were pretty quick, so be aware of the pacing of your edits. Just because you have multiple camera shots doesn’t mean we need to see all of them right away. Jump cut at :45 - that’s where a cutaway shot would have been good to put in to avoid that jump cut. Another jump cut at :57. Another at 1:16. Camera was moving at 1:30 - why? The shot at 1:47 was a bit awkward - not sure what the focus of that shot is? Same with the shot at 2:22. So many jump cuts. Cooking segments are hard to produce and really have to be thought out. You had your cameras positioned in a number of good spots - just need to carefully plan out each and every step so that you’re getting it from every angle possible so that when you’re editing, you can avoid jump cuts.
