A modern adaption of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens and re-envisioned with Ebenezer Scrooge set as a high school Junior under the relatable stress of final exams around the holiday season.
Positives: Good take on Scrooge shortchanging his friends and social life. You used the transition effect well with the spirits comings and goings. Loved the spin shot at Starbucks. Nice, subtle plug for watching BHS TV. The dog was a nice touch at the end in place of tiny Tim.
Improvements: Some interaction with his friends at the end instead of just plopping down in front of the fire would have been a better example of his redemption. Maybe treating the gang to Starbucks for a little continuity....
Positives: There were more than a few legitimately funny parts. The bronco segment was hilarious. Solid camera work with good composition throughout. Some interesting segues as well. Hard to go wrong when you pick such excellent source material to adapt from.
Improvements: Pacing. The whole thing felt rushed. Instead of cramming so much into five minutes, it would have made more sense to trim some of the unnecessary parts to give it more room to breathe. The starbucks bit fell a little flat. Would have benefitted greatly from an ending that showed him actually changing his ways. But on the whole, a solid effort.
Positives: Very fun film! Great job adapting the classic to a modern high schooler's experience. The transitions from ghost experience to real world were well edited! I also have to mention that it was great use of the mascot for the third ghost.
Improvements: Seeing as how this Dickens' classic has been revisited innumerable times, I was hoping for a little more of a twist on the story tropes. The ending was a bit confused, as the character had the realization that he should've spent more time with his friends instead of cramming for finals. And yet, he is alone in the ending of the film. Ideally you'd have a shot of the character celebrating with friends.
