And this wouldn’t necessarily have to be them doing things. It could be CUs of their faces looking at the camera to show who is actually on the team. Sometimes it's difficult to tell who the person is when doing the routine. SOUND: I think the music you chose fits well for a hype video. I would like to hear some audio from the clips that you recorded. Maybe hearing the gymnast land on the beam or on the floor. It would be a nice addition. CAMERA: You use a wide variety of CU, MS, and WS. Something to watch out for is that a few of your shots go out of focus. Specifically at 0:10 and 1:01. Because 1:01 is the ending shot with the whole team, I would try to get this shot in focus. It’s okay to repeat the same shot a few times to get it right. Another thing to watch out for are your slow motion clips. I like your intent to use it but at 0:33 and 0:38 it becomes very choppy. In order for slow motion to be smooth you need to pay attention to your frame rate. Footage that was not shot at the correct frame rate will look choppy. For slow motion, you want to aim for at least 60 frames per second (fps) or higher. Your shutter speed should then be double what your frame rate is. So if you’re shooting at 60 fps your shutter speed should be 1/120. If you shoot at 120 fps your shutter speed should be 1/240. High frame rate and double shutter speed = smooth slow motion! I would also watch your white balance. It changes frequently from yellow to blue (Ex: 0:10 to 0:11). LIGHTING: You used the lighting available to you in the spaces that you filmed in. I think some shots could have used additional lighting like at 0:38. At 0:01 you could have used lights on the back wall in your opening shot. For this you could have used a gel or a colored light and turned it against that back wall (if you had equipment available to you). You used the lighting available to you at 0:04 to highlight the award on the wall! Great job! EDITING: Your sequencing started off strong from 0:00 to 0:12 in your video. You do cut on the beat later on in the video like at 0:36, but I feel like after the open we lose some of that energy as some of your shots later on hold for too long (Ex: 0:39). You did a great job cutting at 0:47 from one gymnast to the next here! The clip from 0:48 to 0:50 holds too long and doesn’t cut on the beat. I think we just lose some of that energy because some of your cuts don’t align with the beat. You also establish a few fast cuts at the beginning of your video and we don’t see that towards the end of the video.
