3/25 7:10 am - I felt like the Science teacher never took a breath in the entire 2-minute story. Use the natural audio of the cicadas to help break up what he’s saying - there should be natural audio pops throughout the story. This category isn’t just about including natural audio with the b-roll, but it’s about using that natural audio to help tell the story. For the b-roll, work on holding that camera steady - use a tripod, a monopod, a stabilizer, a gimbal, etc. During some of your dissolves, you could see the camera move towards the end of that transition.
3/4 11:22 am - This was a very informative piece about the cicada emergence! Your science teacher spoke well on this topic. I did want to hear more about the human connection to this story to make it less informational and more of a "story." How did this impact Chicagoans? What does this emergence mean for us? I think if you could have expanded on this story a bit more, it also would have given you the opportunity to incorporate more audio examples. Right now we just hear the cicadas- what other audio could you have incorporated into this project? Your interview was well framed and I liked the use of your 2 shots. You also had some well composed pans and moving shots throughout this project. Well done on your composition!
