  • 4/30 5:50 pm - Great commercial! Your editing was very strong and your camera shots matched that nicely. You did a wonderful job selling the product with your quick transitions and creative editing. Nicely done!
  • 3/3 7:40 am - Solid commercial! Really liked the style in which you edited this. I think the text is a strength, and the various shots of the food products that you use to glaze the honey over is especially strong. I don't even think the shot of the student at the end is necessary for the commercial, so maybe I'd just remove that part to strengthen this.

Positives: - Really amazing food photography and lighting. Looked very professional! - I loved the typeface and the transitions and effects were so impressive. Lots of cool rack focuses - I loved when the type disappears behind the bottle.

Improvements: - The opening scene felt a little disjointed from the rest of the commercial. It was visually and tonally super different. Could’ve done without it. - The effects were very impressive, but it got a tiny bit overwhelming. Could’ve been a tiny bit less flashy to give the viewer time to read and process things.

Positives: Superbly executed on many levels - story set up with the question at the top is perfect / visuals are electric (which works fantastically with spice) / music fits great / and editing and GFX are polished and refined - great job on this. Cutting quickly between the different foods with Mike's Hot Honey drizzling on them in rapid succession is a masterstroke. We don't need to see the specific foods, we just need to know that it adds spice to a variety of them - and this does that in a fun and exciting way.

Improvements: Lose the button at the very end (thanks Mike's...) You don't need it. Save the idea of a button in the future for either comedy, or a call back to something that needs more resolution. You're doing that here, but it end perfectly at :30 with the product shots. If the main character is going to be alone in the initial setup in a large empty room, you're better off cheating a medium shot of the character asking the question with some sound design that lets the audience think we're in a busy space. Otherwise you want to film in a place that we would naturally be alone like a home or apt. In the first few seconds of any spot, we want to relate to what we're seeing. It's a small thing, but important.

Positives: Fun! Appreciate the sorta meta-aware spot, nice way in. The shooting approach is nice, you gave yourself alot to work with.

Improvements: I think this could be shorter, the pacing feels a little too quick in some areas like the drizzle jump cut sequence, but too slow in others. I was missing some actual food being used / eaten to sorta payoff the product.

Positives: Amazing work on this commercial! You clearly communicated what the product is and why it’s worth buying. The piece was fun to watch, and the product shots, combined with the graphics and editing, were extremely professional and well executed.

Improvements: This might be a personal preference, but I felt the product shots are strong enough that the intro with the person asking the question might not be necessary. You could consider using their audio while animating the question alongside the product shots to start. I also thought the contrast between the text and the ending visuals could be stronger, as it was a bit hard to read. Overall, great work!
