  • 4/23 10:02 pm - Nice coverage of A LOT of various sports and some nice shots of all of them. You do a nice job at times pacing the video with music...other times,...it loses its focus. And, I would suggest shortening the video. You have a lot of shots but it feels repetitive because many of the shots are similar.
  • 3/4 11:55 am - POSITIVES: You covered a huge variety of spring sports, which is great to give them all a promo! Good job following action with a steady shot. Nice switch to the team huddles when the music changes @1:51. GREAT closing sequence! AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Mostly long shots; really dark clip @:57. Do test footage beforehand when shooting in low lighting to see how it looks.
  • 2/18 1:22 pm - -Pacing doesn't match... would love to see the video clips match the beat of the song -Great variety though

Positives: Great variety of sports and players. You captured the diversity of sports at your school well. You've got a great knack for camera movement. The last four shots of people raising their various pieces of equipment up with the camera was so smooth. Love it!

Improvements: I would have liked to see more tight shots. For example, at 1:42, you could switch between the wider shot of the boy on the pommel horse and then up close and in his face as he's breathing hard and concentrating. You don't have to actually stick the camera in his face. You can zoom in. While I liked the wide variety of sports featured and I could tell you spent a lot of time collecting B Roll at various events and practices, there isn't a lot of narrative structure to the promo. Halfway through, I wasn't sure if I was seeing some of the same clips again, because the video wasn't telling me a story.

Positives: Nice collection of both girls and boys competitions. Your ending with athletes raising their equipment set this video apart.

Improvements: Highlight footage is fine, but video shot specifically for this project helps bring the story together. It's hard to develop a cohesive story with just disjointed contest clips and upbeat music. Your ending shots set this video apart from most others.

Positives: The student clearly captured an impressive collection of sports footage that was well displayed. The breadth of content was remarkable. The ending sequence and final shots were particularly effective.

Improvements: To improve the piece, the student could better integrate music with the footage and add more audio elements like voiceovers, ambient sounds from locations, student cheering, and athletic sounds to enhance the overall production.
