A deep dive into the Glenbrook North soccer team. every journey is deeper than it seems. For this team I wanted to create a video that shows the feelings and emotions surrounding the team and create a deeper experience for the viewer.

- 3/4 11:45 am - POSITIVES: Great editing sequence @:47. Great shot variety, and a really solid closing that is integrated with the music for maximum impact! AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Audio balance should be adjusted when you've got spoken word; vocals with lyrics are difficult to mix with voiceovers. The VO from :56-1:20 felt like he was reading it. Breaking it up with pauses in between the statements would have increased the impact of his words (which were hard to hear because of the lyrics in the music)

Judge 1
Positives: I love that the "thump" sound effect matches the ball bouncing on the player's foot at the beginning. It's a nice touch. There is a great variety of shots. Using a few tight shots really makes the difference in these videos when it comes to showcasing emotion. The narrative of the story is communicated well.
Improvements: Try zooming into player's faces during a time of high emotion. You can do this in post rather than getting in their faces if you want. It gives you a chance to get some more tight shots. The natural sound during the moments when there are voice overs could be lowered just a smidge, so that the person speaking doesn't get drowned out. There's a moment where someone is speaking and I hear "BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE" and it's a bit distracting.
Judge 2
Positives: The voiceover at the beginning is a good intro and lets us know the team is rising to a challenge. The music seems fitting and the game clips mixed with practice footage show us the team is rising to the challenge. Great tight shots of goals.
Improvements: What's the conclusion to the story? Where was it going? The concluding shot was a ref checking the nets before a game starts. Conference champs? State playoff? Closing thoughts wrapping up what was said at the beginning would be a classy finish.

Positives: The student skillfully combined music, voiceover, narration, and footage to create a powerful and compelling story. Great hype video! Love the camera work too!
Improvements: The student could have added ambient sounds to enhance the video's atmosphere. The lower thirds graphics could have included more detail. While not mandatory suggestions, I'm curious about the student's age and their position on the soccer field - these details could add interesting context.
