4/23 2:42 pm - Solid performances. Overall, nice attention to sound, however, there were some issues with audio levels (some dialogue was significantly louder or quiter than others). The audio could also use help from J and L cuts. These help prevent you from "hearing the edit." Nice work with the dutch angle down the stairs and attention to detail in the set design, such as the "help" scraped into the door and the "Fallout Shelter" sign. The camerawork is creative, but there are some issues with focus and exposure. In terms of the edit and the story, I think I would have liked to see some of the scenes breathe a bit more so we could feel the stress, the twist in the end is a bit abrupt. Overall, very creative and a lot of things are done well – but audio, exposure, camera, editing, and story could all use some polishing.
3/19 10:28 am - You had some great camera shots in this film. The announcement wasn’t heard very well, maybe start with it in the echo fashion to show that it is coming from the speakers, and then raise the levels so it can be heard well. The movement into the shelter should have felt more intense. I think adding some sound effects and music could help this. I feel some of the scenes in the shelter could have had a different environment. Maybe having the desks move around to show the difference in days. The friend eating the other friend didn’t really fit well for me, I know what you are going for here, but with your sequence of days only being 3, something like that just doesn’t make sense to occur on day 2. I think you could have added some horror or scary emotions with something else.
