  • 4/28 9:21 pm - Good use of High Angle camera shots. The presenter clearly explained the process. Good use of text and graphics. Music selection works well with the images you recorded. Keep producing more videos.
  • 2/23 1:53 pm - This seems like a longer show that you edited down to fit into the 3-minute limitation for this category. It's clear that you have set your cameras and you are just editing around to them. This makes the shots become boring really quickly, because you don't have shot variety. You mentioned explaining every piece of a kit, but you didn't actually do that in the video. That's a continuity problem. You have nice shots, a nicely lit set, and your audio is about as good as it can be without individually mic'ing up the entire kit.

Positives: Very well done. I'm almost convinced I could do it. Good variety of shot angles. Overhead camera and low shots of the kick added a lot.

Improvements: Coordinating the front camera and the side view seemed to be a challenge. I appreciate your trying to vary talking into the camera shots, but it seems like you got caught in a couple of "where's my camera?" moments. Rock on!

Positives: The intro is well shot and engaging. It clearly establishes what the video will demonstrate and grabs the viewer's attention. It matches the rhythm of the drums. The video makes good use of the multi-cam format and selects engaging angles for each step of the process. Cutting on the beats at 2:33 makes it clear which drum is being played.

Improvements: The dialogue sounds like it is echo-y or delayed. It almost sounds like the left and right tracks are slightly off from each other as it is not as noticeable with just one side of a pair of headphones. The levels and clarity of the drums is good, but what is going on with the dialogue is distracting from what the instructor is saying. The graphic at 1:02 with the giant chunk of text feels unnecessary - it stands out from the other graphics just being steps. This example and the fun fact at 1:53 aren't quite up for long enough to read and become more of a distraction.
