  • 4/24 9:00 pm - Clean, smooth shots. Tight editing to the beats of the song. Clean piece that hypes the football program. One question...why the fade out of the song at the end. It was at the end of the song, the song has a powerful ending but you chose to fade out. I feel like it would have ended EVEN MORE powerful if you let that end as recorded. Otherwise, a really good piece.
  • 3/4 12:43 pm - POSITIVES: Great job editing the music to create a Football Anthem. Excellent camera work-- steady shots, great variety that includes close-ups that are crisp! Very dynamic editing that merges the energy of the music with the visuals! Great job building the pace & tension, right along with the music! I have no suggestions.

Positives: Great variety of shots. The establishing wide shots show the grandeur and pomp and circumstance of the events while the tighter shots show a more human, emotional side to the characters. I love the shot of the coach. I like that you edit to the beat of the music some of the time, but not all of the time. It feels intentional, and it gives the moments where the clips do line up with the music a lot more punch.

Improvements: I would have liked to see more shots of the football players walking toward you. There are so many shots of their backs, or them walking away from you. This is something that could be improved but also something that worked, because when I did see a shot of one of the players running towards the camera, it was thrilling! I had been waiting for it. Try lifting the sound of the players up JUST a smidge. Not enough that it would compete with the music, but the tiny bit of natural sound will give the video a good ambiance.

Positives: Nice footage of games. I like how it starts out with a lot of pregame activities before getting in to actual play.

Improvements: It seemed like there was a narrative thread, but it ended with what looked like the start of the game. Some text overlays might have helped tie things together, or shots of the scoreboard. An end of game celebration might have made for more of an actual conclusion. Highlight footage is fine, but video shot specifically for this project helps bring the story together. It's hard to develop a cohesive story with just disjointed contest clips and upbeat music.

Positives: The cinematography demonstrated excellent variety, effectively combining close-up shots with wide angles and well-executed depth of field. The student clearly captured comprehensive footage of the event. The editing was well-paced, with smooth transitions that matched the action. The audio mixing was particularly strong, successfully blending voiceovers with natural sound from the players and field.

Improvements: While the piece worked well as a highlight reel, it would benefit from a stronger narrative structure. The footage captured the game's energy, but left viewers wanting to know more about the outcome and its significance. Adding details about the final score and the team's journey would help transform this from a collection of well-shot moments into a more compelling story and watch.
