- 4/30 9:58 pm - Anchors look very professional, perhaps they should read the script a bit more before they go on, they seems like they stutter through it s a bit at times. Audio in the sports package is tough, i like the segment though, a creative piece to add to the show.
- 4/29 8:08 am - It’s best not to have the anchor’s hands clenched together. Makes them look nervous. Xavier has a nice personality and seems knowledgeable. If you have a script don’t have it rolled up. Nice b-roll in the segments and I liked the natural audio underneath.
- 4/15 9:55 am - Anchors audio is a bit echoey at the start. First story- could there be some interviews to that story? Lythberg being interviewed is holding her own mic- either hold it for her or get your shot so we can't see that. It's more professional. B-roll on the your stories is good. Work on the transitions you use to your interviews. "Here's Mr. ??? to tell us what he thinks" is not a well-written transition. Instead, state who will be talking and what they will be talking about. Audio on the sports interview is mumbled and inaudible. End of sports broadcast got cut off by transition. Weather was a neat idea. You have the start of a good show- add more elements, slow the pacing, and work on that audio! Keep it up!
Judge 1
Positives: 1. All the storytelling in the piece was appropriate in terms of tone and its alignment with normal journalistic practice. Additionally, I liked how y'all made room for a little bit of levity too with how you handled the weather segment. Good job! 2. Despite the low sound of the interview subject, the sports segment was pretty good. I think the sports talent held his own well there in a professional way that was engaging!
Improvements: 1. On video, always make sure to use a tripod to keep your shots level. A few times, things got shaky which can confuse the viewer. Sound glitches or uneven sound, like what happened with the interview subject during the sports segment are other things to check for to avoid confusing the viewer. 2. Everyone's on-camera presence kind of flipped back and forth from comfortable to not comfortable, or from warm to a bit stilted. There was even one portion from the desk where it felt like the video was sped up a bit given how fast the anchor was speaking. Make sure to slow things down (it's okay, I promise) so you can grow into role on air and not come off as nervous.
Judge 2
Positives: Nice segue between first and second stories. When producing a newscast, you want to look for ways to connect the stories.. and that was done effectively. The sports segment! Very conversational and the host was cleary comfortable with the subject matter.
Improvements: Audio levels.. try to keep audio levels between the studio and the recorded pieces as consistent as possible. While the main hosts looked comfortable on the set, there's room to work on the delivery. Focus on being more conversational and authentic. Don't be afraid to smile and show some personality!

Positives: Really good job getting a broad range of stories into this show. I feel like I have a good idea of what's happening at Shepard. Some good transitions and pacing. The coaches corner concept (separate of the audio issue) is a great idea. Editing that production to make it more visually interesting was very smart. Edwin was great.
Improvements: Some challenged audio in the packages and studio mics. Clips were either clipped too early or too late. The interview with the football player was really rough. Sports is obviously an identity here - this was the best storytelling in the entry.
