This is a commercial for Bubbl'r - we did all of the animation and live action production, and we even found a vintage CRT television to use in the opening scene.
Positives: I love the concept of your commercial I like the camera in the sliding fridge drawer shot, really creative! I like the lighting at 0:38. The background is out of focus and dim, and the product is in the foreground, well lit. That is a GREAT product shot.
Improvements: The actor close up at 0:09 is a little too dark. I know it's supposed to be dark because the character is watching tv at night, but it's ok to cheat a little and make it brighter (I wanted to see the actor's face a little more clearly). 0:26 The product is back lit. Back lighting can be great for film and tv, but a product usually needs to be very brightly lit from the front in a commercial.
Positives: The story is informative and clearly features the product, the consumer, and the brand. For the most part the shots and pace of the edit inform the story. It's a fun piece. The beginning and the end are very strong. Inside the fridge is lively but not as catchy.
Improvements: I would have set this in daytime. Even if you wanted the transition from the dark TV room to the fridge. The Kitchen could be lit for day. The darkness for me did not convey the right tone for this "healthy" beverage. I also felt that to much of the story was told in voice over and that the voice felt to authoritative given the person in the commercial was young.
Positives: Love it - great work! 1) Great story! Funny opening rug pull moment, followed by well written AVO. It's direct in featuring why the product is better while retaining a fun brand voice. Really nice writing. And the closing "It's pretty good" is a really sharp line - connects with audience! 2) Love the VFX/editing! Great pacing.
Improvements: 1) Ok this is a weird ding, but I think the fake product opening actually looked TOO GOOD, as in - I was so impressed by the quality and 'aliveness' of the opening, that I was missing a little bit of it for the rest of the spot. It's a small but important thing to remember that if you're going after competitor's...you want to make sure your product/work looks better than theirs. 2) Lighting! It makes shooting stuff so much harder - but it's worth it!
