A small video showing the day to day activities in digital media Promo project produced by Noah Portis Digital Media Production - December 2025 Shepard High School Audio courtesy of Inaudio.org
Positives: lots of shots of students engaged music was lively
Improvements: at approximately :22 seconds in - a 1.5 second pause energy of music does not match video shots
Positives: The video comes in under two minutes and there are a couple of moments where you can see the intent to showcase the classroom environment. The music choice has some energy to it.
Improvements: The opening long fade from black sets a slow tone that never really recovers. From there it's hard to know what the video is actually about. Random shots like walking upstairs, a camera and tripod sitting idle, and a front-of-school exterior don't connect to the story of a digital media program. The side angle of students at computers with nothing happening feels like filler, and honestly most of the b-roll has that same issue. The gun/shutter sound effect doesn't land the way it was probably intended, and the audio has a noticeable jump in volume mid-video for no clear reason. Even at just over a minute, the video feels stretched. A promo should make viewers want to join the program. Focus on action, energy, and student voices to get there.
Positives: This video gave a wide assortment of visual subjects. Some worked well and others did not.
Improvements: A promo requires information about the subject matter. Maybe some visual captions or narrative? Someone sitting in a chair, in a school hallway, holding a sign does not make me want to jump into your program.
