  • 4/24 10:38 am - I liked the beginning of the video with the nine windows of different Fine Arts programs. This followed with a good introduction of "Music" that is held on-screen for a good period of time. However, after the introduction of the "Music" segment and the multi-box cuts out, it shouldn't reappear because it is too hard to focus on any single window in a short period of time.. Full screen clips that showcases "Music" would be a lot more effective. The introductions to "Art"(0:12) and "Performing Arts"(0:23) are way too fast and I definitely missed both the first time around. It does work well as promo video for the fine arts department, I just wish the segments were a little longer.
  • 4/23 10:31 am - STORY: Overall you do a great job promoting the different Fine Arts programs that your school offers. You provide the audience with a lot of essential information! SOUND: I think you have a good mix of your music overall. I think a great addition would be to include some sound from the b-roll in the clips that you include. It would be nice to hear conversations students have in the graphic design room, or to hear some of the instruments or actors in different clips throughout. And this could be very faint! CAMERA: You have a variety of camera shots and angles that you use throughout your video. Just a few things that you can work on! Your shot at 0:07 is pretty shaky. I would really recommend using a tripod for a shot like this, especially if you are zoomed in on a camera. If you are handheld, and zoomed in on the camera, your footage will be more shaky. A lot of your shots are also pretty shaky at 0:10 when the grid comes back up on screen. I appreciate this shot at 0:14, however, I think your shot would be even better if we saw an actual piece that the student is working on in photoshop instead of seeing them set up a project. As of now, this shot doesn’t scream graphic design. LIGHTING: You do a great job using lighting in the settings that you recorded a lot of your footage! EDITING: I really enjoyed the way you edited in the different frames on top of other clips. It’s a great way to show a lot more of the specific programs in such a short time. You do a great job editing on the beat most of the time. There are moments where you can’t really process what is on screen because on screen for too short of a time. Especially at 0:12, there are so many images but this is on for a short time so it’s hard to take in each frame that is shown. I think it’s okay to hold something for a beat or two longer (as long as your next cut is on the beat of the music) so that your audience has time to process what they’re actually seeing. At 0:15 to 0:17, I think the cutting here would really benefit from cutting on the beat of the drums equally. Right now the cuts seem random, where one is faster than the other. 0:21 to 0:23 also cuts really really fast and it’s hard to process what is actually on screen. So again, hold for a beat or two longer and cut on the beat of the song.
  • 2/29 9:15 pm - Love the band playing in the background to promote your fine arts program. Your school has a lot to offer and I really like how you would split the screen to show us the extensive offerings Your school has. Excellent job!
