A drama production captured live.
Positives: Camera exposure was good and added to the feel making it look like a classic horror film. There was also a good combination of camera angles such a a wide shot of all actors and a single shot to get close up reactions.
Improvements: It was difficult to hear the actor's dialogue. You can help this moving mics closer to the stage or even grabbing a an audio out of the front-of-house audio mixer if the actors are wearing mics, and connect the audio to the camera for record for in-sync audio. There was also a couple of times that the camera made movements before they were taken to a different shot or, moved right as the camera was taken live.
Positives: It is difficult to capture a live production especially when it is designed for the stage and the TV. This production did the best it could.
Improvements: Lighting was not really conducive for TV (realizing it was a theatrical setup). These characters needed to be mic. Audio sounds like a pickup of a single mic. Almost indistinguishable at times. Close ups were late. The director should have blocked his camera shots with the script.
Positives: Great close-ups. Really felt like I connected with the cast better than I would have in the audience. Good adjustments to the stage lighting to make sure I could capture details.
Improvements: Missed the plug into the audio board. Most dialogue was difficult to hear or understand. Adding a wide shot into the entry to help me understand contextually the lab they are in would make this even stronger. Most shots were medium or close-up shots. Variety is important.
