4/30 2:08 pm - + Interesting and important topic. Looks like you interviewed a diverse group of people, which is awesome.
-Audio could benefit from a lav mic. Review rule of thirds with regards to camera composition.
4/15 9:18 pm - I'm curious to know if this was the entire documentary or just a portion of it. If I figure out who you are I will ask you!
KEEPERS: This is such a great idea for a documentary and the way you put it together was very effective. Great job having the participants document their own journey sort of confessional style. That created a lot of cool "in the moment" moments for you. The documentary was well paced and edited. The flow of it all was excellent.
IMPROVEMENTS: I think you needed to narrow the focus of this a bit. Focus only on the students who agreed to participate and made it to the end. With that extra time, you could film broll of them in and around school, at home, etc. It wanted to get a sense of them more as people. The footage they filmed was great but more was needed to really round it out. Watch your interview shots. On the whole they were okay, but make sure you're adjusting the camera each time a different person sits down. At times the rule of thirds and head space was off. Finally, when using text on screen, make sure you understand title safe margins and use them. Text all the way to the corner margins won't show up in most instances and professional text is designed to be within safe margins.
Overall, this was a really thought provoking documentary. Keep telling stories!
