  • 3/3 12:13 pm - I think the way the reporter sets this up and tosses to the first soundbite is good. I also like that you put b-roll over that stand-up and didn't just say on cam. The interview is well-framed, and the audio is very clean here. I like the twist in using the seating as a way to show his creativity and how he is different. I also like how he doesn't appear on camera until the end of this part, as you clearly know who is speaking. The end of this interview was clipped a bit. The b-roll matched very well with the reporter track. This did a great job of pointing out many ways he is unique, which was pleasing, including the end. Maybe some natural sound breaks in here could've made it a little better, but this was fun, informative, and factual.
  • 3/3 12:07 pm - '2018 teacher of the year' begs a question - voted by students? admin? state of IL? Wanted a little more info to make it news worthy -Nice, polished look for reporter. Good, interpretive delivery of track.
  • 2/21 2:41 pm - - Well shot, creative - Did not buy into the “diverse” teacher idea in this package - The fact that he uses different furniture and lets students play music does not support the idea that the teacher is “diverse”

Positives: - Interesting story! I think you did a great job of weaving together the soundbites and your track. There's a clear beginning, middle and end. Nice job - You did a good job of capturing moments -- between students, between student and teacher, etc. This is really what the story is all about!

Improvements: - You need natural sound here. I want to hear him teaching, how the students react, etc. Think about it -- video isn't just seeing something. It's hearing it too. If we heard more from class, we would feel like we're there too. That captures the attention. - Visually, you need more sequences here. The editing has jump cuts, because I don't think you had enough video. When shooting, always think wide, medium, tight in terms of shots. This will then help you edit to avoid jump cuts.

Positives: This moved really well for a longer piece. I like how you showed all the different aspects of his classroom

Improvements: There is a lot of opportunity for nats of the teacher. I was waiting to hear from him and then you went to a sot from someone else. Be mindful of what's in the background when you shoot standups and interviews. I was very distracted and looking at the background instead of at who was talking.

Positives: -Solid delivery by the reporter. -Well written! Great to see the reporter's narration matched the video

Improvements: -I would have liked to hear natural sound.. especially in between transitions. Example: when the students are going around in a circle around 1:17... I would've liked to hear that audio -I would highly suggest to have the reporter be on camera at the end of the piece, to compliment the stand up at the beginning.
