- 4/15 10:42 am - STORY: I think you have a great approach with this dark humorous twist in your music video! I think this dark twist really sets it apart. You also do a great job of showing the actions matching with the lyrics. Great job!
SOUND: Your audio is mixed appropriately. I think you could definitely consider adding in come SFX to amplify the sound design of your video even more. For example, as the character is hiding by the RV, we could hear the crunch of footsteps in the snow. This could be very subtle under the music.
CAMERA: You have a strong understanding of camera composition. A moment that stands out is the rack focus at 0:20. Great job! Something to note is that a few of your shots are out of focus, or just slightly out of focus. For example, the shot at 0:16 is out of focus on the character and instead the lamp is in focus. The shot at 1:11 is also out of focus on the character and the front of the couch is in focus instead. Make sure to keep a close eye on focus and always double check! There is also a visible particle or hair on the lens from 1:24 to the end of your video. It’s especially clear in the RV shot at 1:34. You can see it just to the left of the window. This is a quick and easy fix! Just make sure to check your lens before filming and clean it if needed.
LIGHTING: You have a lot of moody lighting that matches the dark humorous tone throughout your video. Something to note is that most of the shots in the opening scene have a green tint, but the shot at 0:08 shifts towards a cool blue tone which feels disconnected from the rest of the sequence. It could be that you were probably running out of time against the sun while filming outdoors! Additionally, within the same scene the blacks seem like they are a bit too strong. Especially in the clothing and shadows. Consider lifting the shadows or adjusting contrast to make this a quick fix!
EDITING: I think your video has great pacing overall and fits the tone of the music. Your sequences also worked well and I like how you cut to different angles of the character within the same location! Great work!
- 2/18 9:46 am - This music video takes a unique and unconventional approach, standing out with its distinct style and use of dark humor. The creative direction is refreshing and adds an intriguing twist, making it memorable and engaging. Taking risks with storytelling and tone can be challenging, but this video successfully leans into its distinct identity, making for an entertaining and thought-provoking experience.
One of the strongest aspects of this production is the use of multiple people to visually tell the story and contribute to the lip-syncing. This choice adds variety and keeps the video dynamic, preventing it from feeling repetitive. Each performer brings something different to the narrative, enhancing the overall storytelling and making the video more engaging.
The blend of humor and darker themes is well-executed, and the visual storytelling effectively supports the tone of the song. The choice of settings, costumes, and expressions helps reinforce the mood, making the video more immersive.
To further enhance future projects, consider experimenting with lighting and camera techniques to emphasize key moments and heighten the emotional impact. Additionally, refining some transitions and ensuring that all lip-syncing remains precise could make the video even stronger. Overall, this is a well-executed and creatively bold music video that successfully delivers its unique vision. Great job!

Positives: You did a great job telling the story. Wasn't quite sure what to expect at the beginning, but as the video went on, it became more clear.
Improvements: Lip sync is hard - be cognizant of that and be sure to record many takes so that you can find the one that best lines up with the lyrics of the song.

Positives: The concept was really funny and well executed. The performance by the lead was especially endearing, and fit with the whimsical tone of the piece. The editing did a nice job making the story clear throughout.
Improvements: I wish there was more consistency to the lip-synching, or at least a plan for when it would or woudn't happen so it didn't feel so haphazard. There was definitely a good attempt at shot variety and use of lighting, but I would have liked to seen more creativity or extremity in the use of both.

Positives: The camera switch to the lamp shade was a good addition that goes with the lyrics and gives some variety to the music video. Really good idea there.
To put the camera in the trunk is a really good idea there. Gives the video some perspective shots which is also nice.
Improvements: I think the scene where he gets attacked with the hammer could have been planned out a bit more, instead of here standing right at the front door, but I know it was snowing outside so it's cold haha.
