  • 4/25 7:49 pm - You had a very nice variety of shots and angles. You show and explain each step well, and make it easy for anyone to follow. It all flowed well and the text, colors, family pictures, everything just worked together to make it a cohesive and effective edit and an enjoyable watch.
  • 4/1 12:55 pm - I enjoyed this video for a number of reasons. First the angle of the camera shots - not everything was shot from up above, which is very common for food demos. At the beginning, you showed the mixing in the bowl from the side - it was different and made it enjoyable to watch. I could tell that you planned out the shooting of this video - from the steps to the layout of the ingredients, etc. It was definitely planned out. It was a good combination of video at regular speed and video that was sped up - good mixture. The music was a nice addition as was the ending shot of talking with your Nonna. Overall, nice job!

Positives: The video has a lovely charm to it. It draws in the viewer with the energy of the cut and pictures of the family. This gives the viewer something to connect with and gives context to what the recipe means to the filmmaker's family. It has a clear tone and warm energy. The editing is cohesive. The music and title choices add to the aesthetic of the video, choice of angles helps show each step and keeps the viewer engaged.

Improvements: Be careful when lighting and setting the white balance with multiple sources - the daylight and warmer lights in the kitchen mix strangely in shots like the stove at 1:13 and in a couple of the overhead shots. The shot at 2:02 is charming, but the shot does not need to be 15 seconds of the 2:25 run time as it pulls from the energy in the rest of the video in how long it holds and by not letting the viewer hear Nonna or see the face of the person on the kitchen side of the conversation.

Positives: Good job of not having jump cuts on the overhead shot. I like the change of angles while you mix and then go to the kneading. The variety of shots is effective and engaging. Good with the lighting it is not overwhelming. I do wish there was a better way to her Nonna, and see her, but I like the idea.

Improvements: The closed captioning is not needed. You are clear with the audio, and it can become distracting. I like when you use them for the ingredients, but they are not needed otherwise.
