  • 4/22 11:46 am - Outstanding sound, mise-en-scene, and performances. Unfortunately, it is difficult to judge such a short story in the context of a category where most of the submissions are 5 minutes long. I am not sure the context and limitations placed on this original production, but I think things being more flushed out and a clearer story would solidify an already extremely well executed film. There is a bit of ambiguity working against you that could benefit from a few minutes more. Great shot selection – the reveal through the elevator doors at 1:15 is superb. I loved the flipping around of expectations. Having the Janitor – who seems to fit the mold of a Michael Meyers or Jason Voorheese – being chased and haunted by a seemingly innocent young girl (traditionally the victim/hero in horror). You demonstrate a lot of talent and skill in this – I am looking forward to seeing what else you make in the future!
  • 3/14 9:34 am - Good build up of suspense through the lighting & editing! The last scene is great but what happens next? What does "it wasn't supposed to happen like this" mean? I think this could be a really strong dramatic narrative it was extended. It feels like the cold open to a TV episode. But what's the story about? What's the resolution? There is some sound design, but it still feels a little empty. Adding in more ambience, effects, maybe some music would help us feel more afraid for this janitor.
  • 2/28 12:23 pm - Pay attention to screen direction.
  • 2/28 12:21 pm - The story needs to be a little more developed - I am not sure why the Janitor is seeing ghosts. Is he tired? Overworked? Is the lurker a ghost? This short film looks like a trailer for something. I appreciate the fact that you actually dressed the Janitor to look like a janitor. Your editing is fast-paced and the flashing into black heightens the level of anxiety in the audience.
