SOUND: Your audio is properly mixed. Your music choice to the overall mood blends well with your visuals. CAMERA: You use a good variety of different camera angles. Some shots were a bit shaky, like at 0:34. For this shot specifically, there isn’t really a lot of camera movement needed. You could consider using a tripod or a stabilizer for a shot like this. One shot that could also be improved is at 2:06. The person on the right side of the frame is practically cut off. You could pan over to her on the right, and then pan left as the people come out behind the walls. Or an easy fix would be to take a few steps back with your whole camera setup. LIGHTING: Your lighting choices work in a lot of your scenes. There are some parts where a bit more light could have added more depth to your shots. A lot of the lighting is very much “school lighting” which can be flat and it doesn't really add a lot of dimension. For example, there could be some more lighting added at 0:50 on the staff using the weights. You also want to pay attention to white balance in camera and on lights. For example, you have a great edit at 0:57. The shot on the left however, is a lot warmer than the two shots to the right. Always know what color temperature you are getting in the setting that you are filming. EDITING: Your pacing overall is great in your video! Your cuts are well-timed, your transitions work and your pacing fits the song!
  • 2/18 9:23 am - This video does a great job incorporating dynamic camera movement, which helps maintain energy and engagement throughout. The use of students from all across the school adds a sense of inclusivity and community, making it a strong representation of school spirit. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into organizing and executing the production, and the enthusiasm of everyone involved shines through. The sense of fun and excitement is contagious, making it an enjoyable watch. To further enhance the visual appeal, consider incorporating more advanced cinematic techniques. Thoughtful lighting choices could help set the mood and add dimension to each scene, making key moments pop. Additionally, using visual effects sparingly and purposefully—such as color grading, motion graphics, or creative transitions—could add polish and elevate the overall production value. Depth of field could also be leveraged to create a more professional and artistic look, drawing attention to the main subject while adding a sense of depth to each shot. Beyond these elements, experimenting with different camera tricks—such as slow motion, time-lapse, unique framing, or dynamic angles—could further captivate the audience and make the video even more visually compelling. Overall, this is a strong and engaging project that successfully captures school spirit, and with a few refinements in cinematography and post-production, future videos could be even more impactful. Great work!
