  • 4/17 4:08 pm - This reel showcases a good diversity of shots to highlight many different shooting conditions. In particular, your control filming in low light conditions is admirable and I truly enjoyed your framing and effective use of close-ups. One thing that would make this reel even stronger would be settling down on a tripod and relying a little bit less on a stabilizer. Good work!
  • 4/15 9:16 am - PROS - Textural Depth in Select Shots: Certain scenes exhibit a commendable use of texture, adding visual interest and depth to the imagery. Variety of Locations: The reel showcases a range of environments, indicating versatility in shooting across different settings. IMPROVEMENTS - Exposure Control: Several clips suffer from overexposure or underexposure, detracting from the overall visual quality. Implementing consistent exposure settings and utilizing tools like histograms can aid in achieving balanced lighting. Autofocus Stability: The autofocus issue noted at 1:15 disrupts the viewer's engagement. Employing manual focus or adjusting autofocus settings can enhance shot stability. Lighting Intentionality: The lighting across scenes appears inconsistent, lacking deliberate control to set mood or emphasize subjects. Experimenting with lighting setups and modifiers can contribute to a more cohesive visual narrative. OVERALL - This reel demonstrates foundational skills in capturing diverse environments and textures. To elevate the reel, focusing on consistent exposure, stable focus, and intentional lighting will be beneficial. These enhancements will contribute to a more polished and compelling showcase of cinematographic abilities.
  • 4/9 8:13 am - Good work adding a lot of shots to your reel to showcase your growing understanding of composition and editing. Keep pushing yourself to include more diverse shots- with different subjects, enviornments and uses of light. The last 40 seconds was very underexposed, with the exception of the headlights, and needs more found or supplemental lighting for even exposure.
