  • 4/17 4:18 pm - This is a powerful reel that focuses on a single subject but goes very very deep and creates a very emotional and almost spiritual feeling and connection to this place. I do feel that you would have benefited from displaying skills in a variety of different lighting situations and contexts rather than limiting yourself to the frozen lake, as beautiful as it is impressive as it is. Good work
  • 4/15 1:12 pm - PROS - Impressive Visual Clarity and Texture in 4K: (0:15, 0:28) The high-resolution format enhances the icy detail of the frozen lake, especially the fractured textures at 0:15 and 0:28. These shots are visually arresting and sharp. Natural Light Use Adds Ethereal Quality: The overcast, diffused light suits the cold atmosphere and complements the natural color palette of whites, greys, and blues, helping to maintain tonal consistency throughout. IMPROVEMENTS - Lack of Variety in Content and Shot Design: The reel focuses exclusively on one location (a frozen lake) under the same lighting condition. There’s minimal change in subject, movement, or mood across the reel, which limits the opportunity to showcase your full range. Drone Instability in Key Shots: (0:40, 1:05) Some footage suffers from noticeable shakiness or uneven tilts and pans. At 0:40, for example, the camera jitters during a tilt-down. At 1:05, the drone slightly banks during a pass, which feels unintentional. Smoother piloting or post-stabilization would help. OVERALL - This piece demonstrates a clear eye for composition and appreciation for texture and natural tone, but as a cinematography reel, it falls short in showcasing the breadth of the shooter's skills. Including more diverse environments, lighting setups, subject types, and camera movement would drastically improve its effectiveness as a reel submission.
  • 4/9 8:15 am - Nice use of drone footage to set the scene, provide unique perspectives and set up the few eye-level or below shots. Good edit stitching it all together as well. You used the light captured from the drone well and built a compelling visual story through the music and shot selection.
