  • 4/17 2:19 pm - A lot of impressive professional attention to detail: the intro/outro, demonstrations of wi-fi and signal going out, the scream cut, the photo of the friend on the phone when calling them. The silent scream at 3:30 as a dream is amazing. The color grade is effective. I'd maybe add a tad more saturation in the beginning's exterior shots. Great opening sequence and credits, very cinematic. The sound design is great. For the phone conversation, I would have recommended mimicking the 180 degree rule so that one character is looking right to left and the other left to right. The detail and effort of the seamless incorporation of social media is very impressive. Overall, a well executed and compelling take on the Biblical Rapture. What most impresses me about this is the subtle and thoughtful attention to the details – they really bring the story to life and make this an outstanding short. The one thing working against it is the ending feels slightly abrupt – however, if you make a short film that leaves the audience wanting more, you must being doing something right. Quite outstanding craftpersonship overall.
  • 3/14 8:59 am - Really nice lighting and cinematography. The shots from the car at the beginning look great. Shooting in front of sheer curtains gives her a nice halo backlight. I liked the sound design over the opening credits. It gives us a hint about where this film is going to take place. The sound then cuts out from 2:45-3:15. It would be great to have some sort of sound design here. Just some room tone, maybe footsteps, doors, and other sound effects. Or, if it's supposed to be a vacuum without any sound, add in some kind of sound track to indicate that. I am not quite sure what the story you're trying to tell is. It's clear that she is avoiding accepting Christianity...but the consequence is that the internet goes out? Who is she, what's her backstory, what does she want/need? Why is the majority of the dialogue about karaoke? What is the friend's role in the story?
