  • 2/24 1:07 pm - Creative idea to parody Ferris Bueller! I love the creative risks you took with this and didn't just make this a "parody" video. The graphics and animations you use add a creative and engaging vibe to the video when they're mixed in with the live action shots. Your editing is also spot-on, as your cuts match the pace of the song perfectly. Only small suggestion I'd make is the audio at times lacks some depth. Not sure what it's missing, but the vocals sometimes feel buried in the mix a bit. Just something small I noticed. Wonderful work!

The clever use of a variety of shots and creative graphics adds depth and visual interest, contributing to the overall impact of the video. Overall, this music video is a testament to the creativity and skill of its creators. Positives: Fun and Engaging: First off, this video hits the mark on being incredibly fun and engaging. It perfectly captures the essence and vibe of the song, which is exactly what you want in a music video. This alignment with the song’s spirit makes the video a joy to watch. Excellent Graphics: The graphics in this video are top-notch. They’re not just well-done; they’re polished to a shine. This level of quality in the graphics adds a professional touch that elevates the entire video, making it stand out.

Improvements: Color Grading: The color grading leans a bit towards the greyish side, which can dull the vibrant energy you’ve captured so well in the editing and graphics. Bringing in a bit more color saturation might help to enhance the visual appeal and better complement the lively nature of the song. Lighting in Some Shots: While the video has many strengths, the lighting in certain shots falls a bit short. Some scenes come across as too dark, which can obscure details and diminish the overall visual impact. Improving the lighting in these areas would ensure that every shot contributes positively to the video's engaging and fun atmosphere.

Positives: The video was super fun. I loved the attention to detail in the costumes and production design (esp. the Save Nicole sign at Wrigley--was that composited or real, couldn't tell). The variety in angles and setups was epic, a lot of time and shooting went into this project.

Improvements: The editing was a little too frenetic. I would have liked a little bit longer hold on the Save Nicole sign, for example. And a little more contrasty lighting or lighting control in some shots would have been nice, rather than what just looked like available lighting most of the time.

Judge 3

Positives: The filmmaker had a lot of fun with this video and it shows. It's fun and cheeky. The editing, which works well with the music, is strong.

Improvements: The vocals are flat. The voice needs more diaphragmatic support. There are also tuning plugins in most DAW's. The lead performance needs to be bigger and more commanding.
