A collection of Aidan Klauk’s best and most memorable shots from the 2025–2026 year. This reel shows his growth as a filmmaker and highlights some of his strongest, most creative work throughout the year.
Positives: You have a very strong visual imagination; I love the unique angles and moods you chose to create. You’ve showcased a impressive technical range here, moving between a variety of style, and subtle, action and intimate static shots. I'm impressed by the variety of camera techniques, particularly how you utilized color or lack there of to shift the mood between different clips.
Improvements: The way you used lighting for several sequences showed great, outside-the-box thinking but a bit too dark for viewing. I appreciate the low-key approach, but ensure your shadows don't drop into pure black (crushed blacks) unless it's a stylistic choice for a horror/suspense mood
Positives: Excellent use of light and color here. You made bold choices that resulted in some very compelling frames, notably the burning newspaper shot and shot of the girl turning her head between red/green light.
Improvements: Despite your apparent technical knowledge I felt your reel lacked diversity in composition and framing. Most clips are center-punched medium shots of a single subject. Though well-executed, it lacked variety and interest.
Positives: I enjoyed the small narrative you have bookending the opening & closing shot, it made the minute fifty-five edit move well. On the subject of editing, you started slowly and built the pace of the edit well, this is uber important in a reel because you want to display the variety of work you do. 00:17, love this camera angle A strong part of your work is how varied it is! From what I see you have a visual language you want for each project. For a cinematographer reel and hopefully an aspiring cinematographer taking that next step to craft and image instead of capture it is what makes your reel great.
Improvements: Small but important nitpick, especially in the opening shot but sprinkled throughout your shutter angle/speed is off. The motion blur felt either too much or not enough. This is something that outside of making an artistic point should be what people expect. I.e 23.98 fps, 180 degree shutter or speed double the fps. It can be challenging at your level to get correct exposure with limited lighting or times to shoot but shutter angle should never be touched.
Positives: Great intro and outro! Shows your attention to detail and that you care enough about your presentation. 0:17 I'm still trying to figure out if this was an action cam or shot against a LED screen. Unique! 0:23 Different. I'm guessing this is shutter exposure. Catches one's attention. 0:26 I love the exposure in this shot. 1:31 Your signature lighting begins to stand out. It makes your reel unique. Great work!
Improvements: I would make your opening title/logo larger so people could read it. Even if it meant giving it, it's own space before your intro. 1:53 I don't think you need to see this shot again. You should be able to end it on your wide shot. Either cut to black or fade out. It will be more powerful. Good luck! theojams@gmail.com
